Hi Hayley. The finish is PebbleTec; it's their smooth texture called Pebble Fina, the color is Sapphire Galaxy.

I really love this color but don't have my husband convinced quite yet and we have to decide soon. Can you see the bottom of the pool? How dark is this water? I want a a deep ocean blue but want to see the bottom not a pond dark color? How is the "mottling" with saphire Galaxy? Are you happy with it?! Sure looks beautiful! We have a very large pool but a lot of it is only about 6 feet deep with the deepest 9 feet and lots of sun - free form and Loy's of stone!

We used concrete look tiles in our bathrooms, and decided on the same tile (outdoor version) for our pool area. We also used it for our pool coping and waterline tile and edge of the steps. The tiler cut the tiles, and we had a guy come onsite to hone the edges (same effect as the ones in your photo, but same tile on coping and waterline) who did a wonderful job and really reasonable price. by the way, we had pebblecrete in our pool for 28 yrs. I think it was certainly very hardy ie. bits haven't come off. Algae can grow in the cement bits around the pebbles if you let the chemistry go off like after alot of rain. It was easy enough to scrape off and generally disappeared once I shocked the pool but it did seem to come back in the same spots again if I didn't keep close eye on the chemistry thereafter. The pebbles we had felt a bit roughish under foot, it's not a smooth surface. It was in no way uncomfortable to walk or sit on though. I would get it again, and still might if I don't like the sound of the glass....

Did you end up using it? Curious about the Mottling too. I am close to pulling the trigger on color but that is my only hang up.

The Sapphire Galaxy finish definitely mottles; you'll see highs and lows in the color saturation and you may also see trowel marks as well. It's a popular color for us because of the rich, deep shade of blue. We take all of our clients to see the finishes in person so they are prepared for the look of the mottling. Some clients have changed their mind after seeing the finish in person - most don't.
