How big/small is your budget? Plans would help! I notice you have the bird feature tile, but the rest of the wall tiles seem to be fairly neutral. You may be able to get away with updating this bathroom through the small things. Try replacing the frosted shower screen /curtain combination with see through glass. Semi framed panels are cheaper than frameless and will still modernise the space. The toilet suite seems to be pretty ancient/discoloured - perhaps a stylish replacement (just measure the "set out" from the wall to make sure the new one can fit on the existing plumbing). If you need the vanity storage space, then either replace or, ( if cost is an issue) use paint and modernise by changing the handles. If you can replace, then a "floating" vanity - standing on legs but with no kickboard - will make the space seem bigger. New taps work wonders to update bathrooms. Try to match the shower and basin sets, to create continuity. Could the mirror above the vanity be rehung or replaced with a more eye-catching version? If you take the mirror down to "sit" closer to the vanity, it Should create a more luxurious space. If you cannot find anything in your budget, then one cheat is to simply glue on a wide, ready - made frame to the existing mirror. If the budget stretches, then think about upgrading the wall tiles. You may not need to replace - there are specialist resurfacing firms, or ( if you are handy, and trying to keep the costs as low as possible). then try the specially designed paints in your local hardware store . Towel rails and hooks behind the door might help to create a streamlined look. It might be possible to tile over the existing floor tiles to minimise costs and create a modern finish. Good luck!

Keep an eye out on Gumtree and ebay - I found a second-hand $2000 Schott's vanity for $450. I did give up trying to find more vanities though, and have gone with secondhand pedestal basnins instead - they'll be supplemented by old cabinets if I can find the right ones! It is hard to find these kind of items, I've found. I found lovely things in the UK cheaper than Schott's but shipping is a bit prohibitive.

Cheapest thing to do would be to paint the doors put a bit of timber benchtop from Bunnings and perhaps mirror the back panel, but where's the Bar Fridge going or are you planning a bigger fridge nest to this. As Louie suggested it might be better to get rid of the old as there's no place for a much needed Bar Fridge, A Barn door of whatever style suits you would work well, you can pick up second hand doors with character for this. Then again some Bunnings timber benchtop , (Mel) fitted & supported by beams screwed into the rear and sides of the nook and hidden by a strip across the front as your bench top. With a bar fridge under this, floating shelves above on the wall for bottles /glasses and DVD player etc, much easier to use the DVD when it's not in a cupboard love the room.

After much consideration of your photo, I really think you have it right! The gold mirror matches the gold towel rail ! All your other elements, i.e. the plant and stand, match perfectly with and enhance the room's overall look. I think the suggestion of painting the wall behind the mirror, is an excellent one, in a shade of green which would tie in with the tiles on the floor and the plant. You have the ceiling height to handle it. I wouldn't be shy with a dark emerald green to complement the tiles, I think the gold would then really shine and blend with the gold hand rail. Photocopy the pic of the room and using a texta, colour in the wall and see what you think before committing. Be brave. Congrats on a beautiful room!
