Wood trims and fireplace in bedroom
Comments (17)samr63, Honestly, I think this space is quite beautiful and perhaps you're thinking too much about the elephant in the room so to speak!! If there is one thing I have learned on Houzz, is that there does not have to be a specific style in one room and what I mean is, you have a modern bed but it doesn't take away from the antique fireplace nor vice versa. Definitely as I mentioned earlier, the tall boy doesn't gel at all, nor do the bedsides, but purely because of colour, so I would out them and match the bed with your bedside tables and just stop, the room is very elegant and I really can't see anything seriously wrong with it!!! Perhaps a lovely painting on the bed head wall would soften the room as it's a shame not to use at least one of the picture rails in this room!!! Good luck with your decision. Comments (27)Kelly - at the top right of your comment is a delete and edit button. Just click the delete on each duplicate and it will go away. I love white curtains in a room, they really add freshness. For a lounge room though I would use a sheer fabric that is more structured and heavier than a normal sheer - if that makes sense. If you use a double track you could then put a thermal lining behind the sheer for privacy at night or for keeping the sun/heat out. It will also keep warmth in in winter. I take it your artwork is in red and black and assume your lounge is black? I'm thinking green would be a good colour to introduce into your room. Post photos when your furniture arrives and we can take it further from there if you like....See MoreFurniture help/colour scheme
Comments (4)Hi krittle Lovely colour combination. It seems very 'woodsy'- like in a forest! (Not knowing your personal preference in design, it's a bit tricky to say.) But - a theme to work with - Timber furniture including cane/ratan/water hyacinth. Natural fibres like cotton, linen and wool. The samples you have shown us have a green cast to them in the photos. So using that as a base colour, fill in with lots of shades of green in cushions, lamp shades/bases, floor rugs and paintings/photos on the wall. (Use white frames) Lift the atmosphere with yellow or various shades of magnolia pink/magenta. (Perhaps shades of lavender/mauve/purple would work with the grey ) Keep everything toned with green/grey undertones. Add indoor plants on a grand scale - Fiddlewood, Philodendron, Aspidistra. Let us see what you come up with when you move in. Enjoy your new home....See MoreAll wood house - what to paint?
Comments (13)My husband loves the ceiling only suggestions and also keeping the timber below the dado. I'm not as attached to all the wood and after a total revamp .... I had thought white ceilings and lime washing walls, but realised I'm after a brighter interior. I will have a look at different painted wall panelling. Definitely don't want to go from a wood overload to a white overload! MB you are so right choosing a white is the hardest part! I'll be in touch Milray Park. Thanks for the input and advice everyone!!...See MoreVy
