Stuck for a bedroom design/ style idea
Hello :)
I am wanting ideas on a design/style for this 20 y.o. girls room. below is a very basic sketch of the layout of the room. i can change where the beds/desk go but for now will most likely be keeping the two single beds (although i would love a king single!) i don't really know what style i like, but do like something a bit classy and unique. fyi.. NO pink/purple!! the carpet is a dark brown and walls are currently green (the paint will definitely be changing!)
sorry this is very vague, but i have almost no idea what direction i want to go in, so i will appreciate any ideas. please feel free to suggest anything or ask questions! thanks! :)

Comments (43)Either material can be made to look and feel beautiful, but the photos show the worst of both. I love baltic birch plywood with exposed edges, but it must be sanded smooth and clear-coated with a satin finish lacquer or urethane. Concrete (my passion and my business) can be tinted to give it a warmer shade, and either cast against a super-smooth surface or polished to make it smooth. Comments (16)We just fixed up my daughters room last year (now 12). Going from baby girl cuteness to tween going on 20. She wanted white & blue. Kept everything simple like wall colour white, furniture white & used quilt covers, pillows, rug, fake plant (cause she managed to kill an indestructible house plant) art work to bring colour & life into the room. Just got new blinds throughout house, she didn't like the pale grey, we are getting a sheer to hang & tie on one side. Simplicity. Anything easily changeable so she can swap the look around. Trust me they change their mind daily on what they like! Anything easily removed from your walls is a good thing- like decals, large pin boards for them to display their art, photos, posters- saves on multi nail holes in the walls. Comments (2)How about doing the reverse for master: black Shaker cabinet (possibly floating) with a white stone benchtop? It would also be helpful to see size of master bathroom, ie sketch or plans. You could use style of handles similar to your kitchen, but in a satin chrome or nickel (since matt black wouldn't stand out so well on black cabinet). Have you thought about a basin? Couldn't be recessed, partly recessed or above bench. Will you have downlights w/pendant light or one or the other? Would be most helpful to see a pic of your kitchen too, since you want a similar flow and style, and that will help others help you....See More

Agree with the blue as feature wall only.. could make the room feel smaller otherwise? could even go a light blue/grey for other walls rather than white? it would be a bit more feminine i am thinking.
I am hoping to swap the desk for a dresser and mirror at some point, so then there's the question of where you go with a finish for furniture.. wood/mirror/metallic/painted?!

7 years agoWhat about the attached design and putting the beds in the corner using the wall where the desk is currently and moving the desk to under the window. More room space for when friends are over

I'm not worried about the layout of the room at the moment.. i just need decorating ideas. i currently use the wall above my desk for a pinboard-type thing so wouldnt want it beside the window.. also the window is quite low so dont want to block any of the sun that comes in. at some point i will also swap the desk for a dresser with mirror, and put bedside table between beds.
i love this colour scheme (below).. this pic is from a living room but i thought i could base my style around it? any ideas on style/colour/finish of bedheads/head boards.. also bed covering.. i could possibly do a self patterned grey?? any ideas based on this? thanks!
