Help on selecting paint colour!
Comments (14)Hi sunnyshama25. I recommend dark walls (matte finish) for your dedicated theatre room. The reason is so light doesn't bounce around the walls; you will enjoy a better theatre experience. My family's previous home's theatre room had three white walls and only one dark wall. We regretted not painting all walls dark. We did have heavy drapes and pelmets for the large windows in the room to reduce light as much as possible. The floor was thickly carpeted in a dark colour (for acoustics and to reduce light reflection). In designing our current home's theatre room, we applied our experience and painted all walls Resene dark plum, matte finish. The heavy dark drapes are the exact colour as the walls (dark plum). Again, thick carpet - in charcoal colour this time. I hope this helps address your questions about your new theatre room. Best wishes!...See MoreKitchen colour selection
Comments (10)Ooooh I love the first collection of samples! I like the mix. If you are not a fan of white kitchens, you could consider having a bank of cupboards (either high or low) in a colour (perhaps a muted colour which would work well with the glare). Or if colours are not your cup of tea, perhaps a bank of cupboards in the timber/veneer you have chosen for some warmth and texture. So long as it works with the blackbutt floors. I'm planning my kitchen reno at the moment and am leaning towards white cabinetry on two walls, a bank of low cupboards in a mint-grey green, caesarstone bianco drift bench tops, and handmade white tiles for the splash back (like you I prefer matt or semi- gloss surfaces). I want the texture of handmade tiles to break up that feeling of a white sterile kitchen....See MoreColour selection for 70s house exterior trims
Comments (25)To bring rhythm and flow with the house I would continue to use the monument on the garage door to bring connection of the deck with the house. Use the same for the baton on the deck. If doing the roof look to a similar colour as monument or in fact the same. Perhaps look at Half or Quarter monument for the concrete steps up to the front door. Paint your front door a colour to draw the eye..perhaps a dark, mid blue. The guttering looks in good condition but I would paint that the same as the roof including the downpipes. Go for a standard white under the eaves. I feel like you need something to the left of the garage to balance things out for street appeal. Greenery planted to hide the gap up to bottom of deck but planted towards the street to allow a meter gap to walk through from left of garage....See MoreColorbond colour selection - help needed
Comments (19)I don't like drab except as a way of filling in the gaps . Oops , bloody autocorrect , I meant dune . And anything grey . I'd actually go Eucalypt on the walls and roof , 'natural' wood but with a charcoal or green tinge , and Forest Green for the gutters and barge boards around the roof , the windows and also that front veranda roof , just as a bit of contrast . Yes , I know , it will get a bit warmer , but it's 1/20th of the cladding , on 25% of the year , so live with it ! And of course , the nicest bright dark green shade you can get for the front door . Don't want greens ? Go with surfmist as the main , roof and walls , Deep Ocean everywhere I suggested Forest Green , and an almost glowing Royal Blue front door ....See MoreSueM
