If you have not already made this kitchen I would like to help, it lacks adequate storage for good pantry space. If you need a lot of fridge space I am not sure that is the best method as it takes up a lot of space. The idea of adding the bench for the kids is a good concept but the high back means the kids can't see you all the time and they will end up on your side of the bench so they can see you. Incorporating space for the kids at the end of the island bench would be more functional for both you in the kitchen and the kids would be able to see you move around and feel a part of things. Also how will they use this space kids don't just sit still they will want a bench or something they can use to draw do homework etc. Colour contract of light and dark always looks good. P.S white bench tops are not hard to keep clean and they don't date, the nature of the stone itself is easy to clean.

I've just been looking at your colours, I think the Dulux Dieskau would work the best with the other colours you have to work with, choosing colours is such a personal thing and I know it can be really hard to choose and hope you make the correct choice. Oskuee is right, a paint job can look terrible half way through so you need to make sure you finish to get the proper look of colour. But the biggest thing to remember is it's only paint and it's the cheapest thing to change so if your not happy with the colour you choose you can always try something else. Happy redecorating :)

I would stay clear of the wisteria/purple/mauve, they are heavy and dark hues of the colour wheel and will make it difficult to tie the entire room together. They also have a tendency to make a room dark as they absorb a lot of light. They are also very difficult to paint over again if you ever sell, as they take many coats to hide the dark hues, especially when painting over in a neutral colour like cream or white, as the colour can bleed through. What about a hint of autumnal burnt orange, a soft pastel teal or a very mellow ocean spray blue palette, again in pastel instead of the darker Victorian mauves etc. I think any of those choices would go well with your darker sandy-brown strip flooring. There are two ways of doing the white walls. You could match the white cupboards if you know the colour or have a contrast. Either would be fine. Best thing to do is get colour sample charts to narrow your preference then get sample pots and paint on the walls to see how it would look. I really love Dulux Natural White. It has some warmth to it which would look nice back with the timber. Good luck. Post some pics when you are finished.
