In my kitchen design, I allowed for a fridge freezer combo, as I live on a farm and as most farmers know, you can't have too many fridges or freezers to store food, that is purchased to last for a few weeks, living in my case, 25km from town. Having said that, I won't have a built in section to house the fridge/freezer, it will be a free standing area just like you have, to allow for changes in the future, as sure a night is dark and day is light, if you need or want a bigger unit, chances are it won't fit and I will never need to do any carpentry to take these future changes. I will also have a free standing dishwasher for the same reason, so in answer to your question, I would leave the fridge/freezer section as it is but as for the other antique fridge on the left of the picture, I would build a cupboard there instead for whatever you think you need to still have storage for, be it a broom closet/general storage or even extend the shelf and have draws or cupboards below etc...or the breakfast area as midesign0401 suggested, but I would have it in this spot as it appears in the photo at least, that the coffee maker is on the right of the sink already, so a more suitable breakfast area/prep area.

Hi, our fridge sits out about 20mm (the depth of the doors) just enough for the doors to open fully. You'll need them to do this if you want to get your shelves out to clean. I don't mind it. It's not an eyesore. Also, from looking at your fridge it's got an icemaker or filtered tap. Make sure the cut off tap for your plumbing is accessible from the cupboard next to it, preferably next to the powerpoint. The last thing you want to have to do is pull the fridge out to turn the tap or power off. Mine is accessible from the cupboard above the fridge. Hope this is helpful.

Hi all, I'm new to this and would like to any feedback from others who have installed refrigerative air conditioning with ducts under a raised timber floor, and what issues they may have experience by using a common heating and cooling ducts. We are also building a new home that will have raised timber flooring so we can install ducted heating but, in our case, there is no roof space to install ducts in the ceiling in any case because our house will have 2 skillion roofs, one at 15° and the other at 7.5° pitch, both meeting in the center of the house, and running the entire length of the house. The other challenge we have is that half the house along one side will have raked ceilings in the living, dining and kitchen areas and will extend along the entry hall way, whilst the other half of the house where the bedroom bathroom laundry etc., will have flat 2.75m high ceiling and the available roof space will be minimal. The option of ducting the cooling beneath the house is attractive because we also don't need bulkheads.
