So true Interior blank. I don't know why white needs to equate to cheap looking in Australia. I drool in envy at some of the stoves in the US. Beautiful styling, retro looking, they have it all. You know what I'd like is for someone to be able to say exactly what needs to be done to convert their appliances to our electricity, or plumbing.

It is always best not to look too closely at construction! I've discovered that every tradie seems to have the same way of solving problems: "do the first thing I can think of". Sometimes it is fine, other times not. Our stone benchtop is being fitted tomorrow and I'm going to *try* not to look underneath!! Sorry, no actual advice...

Hi Catherine, the biggest part of the cost to Stainless Steel tops is the work involved in their fabrication, their supporting structure and the detail on-site work required with installation and junctions; therefore you can't really go on a square meter rate. Your supplier has no doubt based the cost on your requirements and specifications. All I can suggest if this is out of your budget is that you talk to your supplier / fabricator and ask if they can see if there are ways of doing the job differently to save on cost but still achieve a similar appearance and also let them your budget.
