Updating a pink house
Comments (10)Bathroom, change the shower screen and taps, get rid of the gold. New handles on the cupboards. The changing of the screens is not too expensive. Use semi frameless grass. All the gold trim gone will really brighten it up. Fresh coat of paint. We lived with a terrible old shower screen because I thought it would cost too much. It was $1500 installed. I can't believe I lived with the other terrible one so long. I changed when put house on market and the taps as well. Taps were from Bunnings not the cheapest ones but not too expensive either. Bathroom updated in an instant, I thought why didn't I do this for myself. We also put in a new basin as the old one was plastic and I always hated it. Your vanity with new taps much nicer. Comments (27)Hi, I have to agree with rwalton5 with regard to the use of space set aside for the boot/ bag area. While the idea of the area is great, it really needs to be located in a more appropriate area of the house. Perhaps in the entry or laundry area. I do have a suggestion for your choice of fridge. I own and operate an Agri tourism business and was suprised when setting up a commercial type kitchen at the reasonable cost of commercial fridges. These fridges are built to take the wear and tear of busy kitchens with multiple users, much the same as a large family. I was able to store large water containers with tap, large platters and large plastic tubs to house fruit and vegetables. I can remember thinking at the time how ideal this option would be for a large family. I was able to install a much larger commercial fridge at a lower price than I could buy from a regular retailer. My thoughts are that you would then be able to fit a large chest freezer in your butlers pantry. While chest freezers are not fashionable, they provide the room you require for buying / freezing bulk groceries. Good luck with your plans!...See MoreIs it better to use the same hardware colour throughout the house?
Comments (6)I wouldn't be as harsh as Dr Retro , but I'm not a Pro . In fact , I like gold , I like black chrome , I like silver chrome , I like Victorian white tapware , Dr Retro seems to have focused on matt black , but surely thats limiting yourself ? Personally , I'd just go room by room . If your kitchen was dark marble and gloss charcoal cupboard doors etc , then I'd look at gold/brass , or gloss black , or chrome in whatever style complements ( modern in a modern house or modernised house ; 70's in a 70's house ; classic gold or chrome in a Victorian farmhouse ) . If it was ( shiver , shiver ) white benches and cupboard doors and appliances and walls and ceiling , then again black or gold would look great IMO , chrome not so much , but anyone who does white on white on white lacks something anyway haha . So a kitchen , or dining room , or bedroom , or wherever , that is mainly white , or very colourful , or mainly pink , or black and white , may suit some styles , not others . To go one step further , and have black taps and gold handles mixed in one room would depend on the style of the house and/or each room IMO -- gut instinct is no , but I can think of some combo's that may work -- a Victorian house with solid wooden varnished doors , gold/brass handles , a kitchen with a wooden floor , white marble bench-top and black gloss plumbing would look balanced , for example ....See MoreCheck out this all-in-one bathroom/ laundry
Comments (27)@HU-319610855 I’m not saying this to be even the slightest bit contradictory, so please don’t take it that way. We had seperate everything. Doors, walls and divisions everywhere. We pulled it all out and went combo. We‘ve never had an issue with conflicting use, and we love the feeling of extra space and openness it created. I’m sure it all depends on your household. :-)...See MoreMartin Carr
