Large glass doors will be a major heat leaker... depending on your aspect and the time of the year, leaking heat into the house or out of it. Nothing better than triple block curtains with pelmets (with a top), that go all the way to the floor and extend past the window. Not quite as good thermally but better for adjusting light into the room while maintaining privacy are timber (not plastic) shutters, fitted inside the frame of the window, and again down to the floor... so that the entire window pane is covered when the shutters are closed. The latter would probably best suit your needs, unless your house swings between freezing cold and blisteringly hot.

What is the width and height of the aperture inside the doorframe, if there is one. In general, if you are ageing in place the door needs to be at least a meter wide, sliding (for wheelchair users) and not too heavy to use. Otherwise it comes down to personal preferences and space available.

While both are great options we agree with Tribbletrouble44152k7 Trek - definitely depends on your space. We personally like swing or pivot doors - easier to clean, space efficient and easy to assemble if you are doing it DIY. Alternatively you could use a glass screen and do away with the door all together if that's possible? My suggestion is two sets of Roman or Roller blinds . The left can be down for dimming and the right partway up or down for air . I have a personal distaste for vertical blinds which look cheap . I am gradually doing window and door treatments through Blinds Online and I am really happy . You also could do double curtains with sheer and blockout which you could draw to the left .
