HU, I've replied to old posts, sometimes the related questions that appear can be confusing and the date can be overlooked, it happens, I think many of us have done it, so don't worry about it. Thing is, if the original poster is no longer following and if other people looking for inspo are more likely to get advice by starting a question of their own than getting lost in an old discussion and if people willing to reply waste time reading through before noticing the question is 7 years old, and it brings it back to the first page making it more likely more people will mistake it for a recent discussion, I'm not sure how productive any of that is, so I appreciate the 'old post' advisory, and in that spirit since I've now added to the conversation I'll draw to others' attention that this is an OLD POST

Just me -- that's a No ! As it is shown there , its too much , too tacky . On an island , if it was maybe the 'front' it could be okay , or something like a built-in cutting board might look cool ( as it is presumably a manufactured stone , I have no idea how it would be practical-wise ? ) . That whole kitchen doesn't inspire me much -- its too mixed up IMO . Mostly black and white , but with stainless , some timber which is the wrong tone , again IMO -- not consistent .

my suggestions keeps a small separate laundry with stacked washer dryer plus a bigger storage space for vacuum, ironing board etc adds a handbasin to the toilet and, using a round shower and curved back to wall bath allows space for a generous vanity ... the new kitchen has a pantry, stacked wall oven and microwave, double sink, dw and space for a 600 - 750 cooktop with floor space for a free standing central chopping block island ... the new location for the dining room allows for a window to the garden and sliding glass doors opening to a deck facing north to warm up the new dining room and kitchen ... there's a new window in the living room and the old back door is replaced with a window and i've added doors across the hallways to zone heating ...with careful choice of standard sized fixtures and fittings your budget should be ok but removing walls will be a big cost but well worth while for such great improvements to your home
