I would do a few things. Firstly, the kitchen area is nicely enclosed but lacks overheads, and this back wall has the potential to really impact the kitchen, so I would consider overhead cabinets across this wall, or at the least, floating shelving..which Fiona_ab has some great tips on I've read! I would address the tiles beneath, by installing simple overheads not to the ceiling, and a new splash back, you not only will improve storage, but also lighting and meet the regulations on having a proper range hood. The cabinets would be inexpensive, shelves even more so, and splash back choices can be also. I suggest looking into a product called metaline by laminex, an acrylic, fire rated product that appears as a glass splash back, but which can be cut onsite. S easy for DIY ers. Secondly, paint it out in a light neutral with a pink base, as your kitchen cabinetry look like mushroom and oyster linea laminex, with the standard flecked top, which has a grey tone to it. I'm suggesting going with this, as the kitchen is the single most permanent installation in your space, so work with it, and it will feel unified and cohesive. Directly behind your island back, this naturally would fit a dining or small meals space, position your table lenghtways to extend your room, and help allow it to be divided down the middle, so a sofa can be placed back to it facing toward the internal tv corner?.. The two windows would become a focus in your new meals space, so consider pai ting this wall, which sticks out thanks to the kitchen recess, in a slighted darker shade of your wall colour. And in-between your two windows, either a large mirror with a dresser or console below, or a gorgeous abstract artwork, that fills the wall with exaggerated scale, and introduces a colour palette for soft furnishing for you. And zone your space. Build layers in each spot, a rug just placed under your sofa, ambient lighting in each zone, and perhaps a statement pendant above your dining table, address window dressings, as it's an open shared space, I think keeping them the same will be best, so I'd go a shutter so light is maximized but privacy and function can still be sectioned off.

@dreamer the rest of the joinery is all well and truely fixed in place and we’re keeping it all as is and just painting the doors and drawers, so I can only speak to the section that I can see where we’ve removed this one carcass, but it does appear that this whole joinery section is installed directly over the bare slab and never had any other flooring finish under. I have spoken to the dishwasher manufacturer and they’ve advised that it’s perfectly acceptable to install the dishwasher directly over the concrete slab and there will be no water proofing or mould concerns whatsoever, which is great news, especially for our timeline and budget! Plumbing & electrics are already organised and as the dishwasher is a fully integrated, this section of floor will be completely concealed again. Good news all round. Hi there, Big piece of paper time! Write down the dims of the space and list the things you would like it to do: charge devises, put down for hand bag, store of mail, basket ball fixtures, invitations, bills, home management, display of collection of tortious shells....what ever!! Then list all the ideas that seem interesting, marry up the two lists and see what comes out of it! Personally I think a long blank wall is excellent for couch or other furniture to go on and to sit to look out to the garden (not with your back to outlook like so often is planned) Some put down bench, desk arrangement, some cupboards for devises charging and handbags, some shelving for a few book and current pictures etc. Some of each type of space that you need for those items and things on the list. Very important to keep it ladder friendly for manhole too. I love the look of your circle of chairs there and wonder if you want more seating in the room? HU-624382943's comment about speaker placement is important. As far as quality listening goes (whether you like listening to music seriously or want to enjoy fantastic sound when watching movies, you want the speakers on the narrow wall (pointing towards the set of paned windows), not on a long wall. The challenge, of course, will be to get them sufficiently spaced, since you have the bookcase on the right and the cupboard (with or without doors) on the left, as well as the door to the room itself. (That door looks uncomfortably close to the cupboard doors, incidentally.) Unless you choose to suspend your directional speakers from the ceiling – which could be an option – you'll probably be limited to the width of that central section of wall, i.e. immediately to each side of the TV.
