Where to place a TV
Comments (9)I am also in the build stage and originally, I was having a fish tank that was then to become the focal point of the lounge, hence all the furniture was to face the tank. Now, the tank has been scraped and I have, with the help of a dear friend, completely done a 360* with the furniture and was able to decide to hang the tv from the opposite wall. My point is, if your plan is in it's infancy, in other words not set in concrete, on the drawing board still, then my advice is, CHANGE something, so that the room becomes more balanced!! No time like now to visualize the space and keep drawing just that room until you have enough windows, doors etc... to satisfy your needs and you will probably solve the problem fairly quickly. Comments (3190)The simple whites are what I like, the lounge welcomes you to get comfortable and spend time and lose all the distractions, giving you a chance to refresh and refocus. The TV art on the wall is the highlight and draws your attention, and hides its personalities. Is it a TV at all?, Overall I chose number 9 for its simplicity and comforting feel with no clutter and with one piece to comfort the body and one piece to stimulate the mind....See MoreTV and wood heater on same wall? Comments (21)Thanks for the additional info and photos, EL, and what a clever husband to construct the model! If it were me, I would install the heater on the wall in sitting/dining room. I say this location as it is tucked away a little better than the location behind kitchen wall, and seems safer (for people walking past it when in use), to me anyway. The TV could be placed or mounted next to it, but far enough away so heat doesn't affect it in any way (not sure if that's a consideration). My folks had a large wood burning stove installed in their old house long ago, to replace the original fireplace. My mother used to cook large pots of homemade soups on the top of it, letting them simmer all day long - the aromas were amazing. Your house project is exciting. Comments (15)In any event, I think the upper half of brick cavity where logs are stored could be modified and used as a place to mount your TV. I'm thinking some sort of structure could be built into the cavity and the TV mounted to it. This would require the services of a qualified carpenter to ensure the entire structure is properly and securely anchored to the brickwork, and to ensure it can support the weight of the TV, especially if a pivot mount is used. Barring this idea, is there adequate space in the opening between fam rm and kitchen/dining area which could accommodate a purpose-built unit for your TV? In other words, built directly to the right of the brickwork?...See More- 4 years ago
