Sheers are gorgeous but i agree the curtain pole doesn't look right: the sheer curtain tops should cover the pole (depending on the track this may only need a different hook to hold the pleats up higher) and as you need something that can be pushed completely out of the way a different pole with proper drawstrings with the curtains tops covering the poles may be the answer: a chat with a specialist who does shutters as well curtains (Spotlight?) should help but i hope you keep the sheers

Preference: A mix of polished concrete and then some laminate in the bedrooms/studies etc. as it is a softer material. Tiles are cold under foot (if not heated), harsher (dropping phones and falling bubs). But they can last forever if you get a timeless finish and are easy to maintain and clean. Laminate can be easily scratched (chairs moving, animals, kids etc) if the brand is not high quality, thus diminishing the finish over a potentially short time. However, if you have the ability to choose a great brand, you will not have this problem. Hope this helps!

It depends on the outlook, the privacy required, the orientation, and how much heat it gets from the sun in summer. I would suggest living with it for a year to understand exactly what you need. As the windows are non-openable I would suggest avoiding anything that requires maintenance such as timber battens, or anything that provides suitable nesting potential for birds, as the droppings from nests can make an awful mess. The wood colour on the chairs appears to match your kitchen external doors. That would be nice to keep the wood colouring. But, If you don't mind painting your chairs, maybe strip them and paint white. In both wood or white instance, I would choose a beautiful patterned fabric to recover the base of the chairs.
