Agnes, kicker concealed drawers are generally fitted into 150mm minimum kickers with a push catch release runner, which you kick with your toe. Runners are 25mm high, and the kicker drawer would be a solid base coinstruction, so factor in a 16mm base, 10mm top and bottom clearance combined, the 25mm runner, and you would end up with a 49mm high internal drawer box in a 100mm kicker, and almost 100mm in the 150. These drawers are really only useable for oven trays etc, although as they are used often, this is a impractical storage system to utilize daily. These drawers are factored in when limited storage can be included into joinery, and the cost for installation is quite high. The time to install onsite is costly, and level and even floors are a must for them to work. As for your floor, definately floor first so if joinery is ever modified the floor is consistent and no infills are needed. It is also beneficial for leveling, and sealing the floor surface entirely. Go with this option.

The problem is the width of the junction between the two materials. There are lots of strips available for doorway widths, but when you get over about 1800mm in lengths the options available diminish so you end up with a joint in the cover strip, which makes a crappy solution look even worse. One option may be to polish the backside of the last row of terrazzo tiles down to match the thickness of the floating floor, but there would be a risk that they could be damaged easily. It would seem a pity to go to that trouble to match a floating floor which may need replacing anyway in five to ten years. Some of the cheaper ones only last about ten years with wear and UV damage. The other option is to reselect your tile to a porcelain, and there are some suppliers who are making terrazzo-look porcelain tiles that are much thinner than traditional terrazzo (and cheaper). For the money you save on going to a cheaper tile you may be able to tile the whole room and overcome the junction of floor materials in the centre of the room forever. Yes Tee, a few people have contacted me with same issues and it appears it’s in the engineering. We are all taking it further so we’ll se what happen, $17000 for one large room and hallway is not something to just live with, if not happy,

Thanks @siriuskey. We had the same thought, but our builder said the frame style moulding is for interior use only and would perish in 2-5 years in the full sun on the front of the house. Perhaps there is moulding that is suitable for outdoor use... I do like the look. One of our neighbours has done it (blue-grey paint, white window frames) and it looks good. We have done the kitchen window in the back as an experiment; it is undercover and out of the sun though. I like the grey idea, but our neighbour's house is shades of grey (not like the book ;) and we didn't want to be too matchy-matchy. We might have another think about the paint... thank you for your comments. :)
