Furniture layout dilemma
Comments (7)Depends on who is in your family and how you intend you use the spaces. Is the rumpus for grown ups or children to hang out. Adults may prefer a pool table and/or seating for watching sport or movies on a large screen. You have a designated alfresco area so assume you prefer casual entertaining outside and would have little requirement for formal dining? In the family dining area, TV on hall wall with L sectional on rumpus wall and dining table for everyday meals as designated. We use our 'lounge' for watching TV in the evenings as we are not daytime TV watchers but you may want to use it a retreat or had in mind a more formal setting. You have plenty of options to discuss with your family to work how best to configure the spaces that suits everyone. Good luck with pulling it all together....See MoreFurniture Layout
Comments (5)Hi, I suggest you do a dilemma for one room at a time. With each room, post photos of the room, all walls, measurements underneath each wall, and which point on the compass the window faces, ie does it get hot or cold. Post pics and measurements of your existing furniture. Houzzers can best help you then. It always helps for sourcing products to know your country/region. happy Houzzing!...See MoreHelp me lay out my furniture!
Comments (8)Interesting idea Jen, the only issue with switching the lounge and dining is I'm not sure how the lounge would fit. Also, that current dining area is kind of a high traffic area as the stairs from the split level entry are there and it's also so close to the kitchen, so I'd rather the 'relaxing' area be away from that. Luckily there are also blinds so hopefully glare won't be an issue! Indigo2912 - we originally thought something similar but then fell in love with this dining table we've bought. Polished concrete and dark wood! Will lay it out how I've sketched above and post pics this weekend!...See MoreHelp, how to arrange living/dining furniture?
Comments (18)Hi! I agree with anniau. Your Living & Dining have heaps of space to furnish. I've designed smaller areas than yours and it was furnished perfectly. It really comes down to the the size of the furnitures you have to be in proportion with the areas minding the general traffic within the areas. Also I would suggest that your opening to the bed hallway relocated to your kid's retreat so you have the opportunity to extend your kitchen and watch the kids while you're in the kitchen :) I would place the fridge to the opposite side as well so it can be easily accessed from your entertaining areas easily. Just my 2 cents. :) I've attached a furnishing sample I did and a marked up plan of your house....See MoreUser
