The hood requires much detail consideration and study, and each such design is somewhat different depending on the space, materials and interfacing with other parts of the three dimensional form wanted. The hood is generally built from dimensional framing and can incorporate the fan as a separate unit. An overlay facing is usually required as backing for tile, stone, stucco, or other surface finish. The intersection of those different materials and how they meet each other and the edges is particularly tricky.
