Comments (12)I'm not sure if your gutter is colorbond or not, but I'd be tempted to paint both the gutters and windows in a charcoal colour. The blinds would then tie in a bit more with the colour scheme and would leave you with all the advantages that awnings supply. I also think, if your budget allows it, that getting rid of the concrete edging, pathway and patio would help a lot. Replacing them with pavers would certainly give it a fresher look as plain concrete is very dated now....See MoreWhich colour roof tile 1960s brick house
Comments (11)Roof-tiles -- surfmist or similar light almost bluey-silver . Gutters -- charcoal ( I'd almost go a metallic look charcoal ) The upstairs windows on the left look wooden framed -- maybe an illusion ? Personally , no matter what they are , I'd like to do all window frames in a charcoal , but the narrower looking frames would be difficult , so maybe do the window sills in a charcoal -- prep well being brick , but it will sort of underline the windows , and go horizontal to reference the gutters . The veranda rails and columns carry on that charcoal theme , and the tiles look like they might be a surfmist friendly tone , so you have another 'tie-in' already done . The garage door may work as it is , it looks lighter than a charcoal and even though it has a bit of a brown tone , I suspect it would work , but in the photo , the beam along the top of the door looks full mission brown -- change that . Charcoal may be too dark , surfmist too light , maybe try and match the door ? Charcoal on the letterbox but with big chrome or stainless numbers , or crisp white . A 1.5mtr tall leafy shrub in the garden , between the 2 downstairs windows , nothing too much wrong with the bricks , but just to add some interest and variety to the garden , and there you go , pretty much done . A more modern look , with the only big $$$ being the roof , which you were going to do anyway ....See MoreExterior help for contemporary brown brick home
Comments (12)I assume you live there ? Walk outside and stand on the street haha . The house to the left seems to have similar bricks to yours , and looks to have off-white fascia , and it looks about right from the small bite we can see . The house to the right seems to be white walls , and black fascia and roof , again looks about right . With dark fences and walls etc , and extending that slightly with charcoal gutters , I don't think you want it all dark -- at present I think its too light coloured , so just go a step at a time -- the fence and the gutter would be step one , then you'll see if the fascia doesn't look right , or whether the column is too white or the garden is too closed in -- basically , move slowly and look before each step ....See MoreRoof colour to match '60s orange brick home?
Comments (21)I think everyones on a similar thought process about the house colours , and I'd go dark too . The garden is alright , and is actually more modern than the house IMO -- it all suits . You could go maybe some lancewood and flax and more modern , but I'd keep the older base . Some things I would look at though -- the driveway looks a bit wonky , and the left side a lot older than the rest . I'd be tempted to dig the left side up ( it looks to be panels so a bit easier ) and redo that side in one pour , and maybe see if you could 'fill' any wiggles up the other side . I'd probably paint the garage door , monument would be the logical choice but it may be too much / too dark then ? Light tones won't suit , who wants greys , browns are yuck , and even my go-to of an orange or yellow or even red might look too try-hard with your brick . And one last touch -- I'd add a dark ( charcoal probably ) cap or even 100 x 100 square brick laid horizontally along the top of your front fence , to tie in with the cap on the left side post , but also your house . Just a little feature that will add a finishing touch IMO ....See More94236633
