Terrace Home Restoration - Before & After

After working on a number of heritage terrace homes around the prestige streets surrounding Hollis Park in Newtown.

The Owners had kept a keen eye on our work and when it came time for them to renovate, they invited us to tender.

After inspection of three of the renovated terrace houses we had completed in the adjacent street, we won the tender process.

Working for the first time with Daniel Boddam Architects and Stacey Kouros Design, the project moved along with ease as all parties being familiar with detailed restoration of heritage terraces.

Great respect was shown to as many of the existing materials and finishes as could be kept and sublime taste was shown joining new works to the existing to give a seamless junction.

Restoration onsite of existing cornices, ceiling roses, tessellated tiles, wrought iron fretwork and balustrading and the french polishing of the original staircase, although this took time, blood, sweat and tears, but the joy of all trades shown when this work was completed made me, as the Builder, swell with pride.

Weekly meetings with the Owners, Architect and Designer, were always a joy, as all involved were so immersed in the project, that revealing the weeks work to all, proved a very emotionally moving event.

The new works to the house, of the garage with rooftop garden bed and terrace house, rooftop deck, were built using modern materials and style of concrete, glass and timber, however, beautiful this was in itself only went onto enhance and shine the beauty of the original terrace.

The final outcome of this house shows us a house of great beauty of its original day, beautifully restored to its past glories and with modern additions added on to reveal a house of yesteryear working in the 21st century.
