Cornflour mixed with water, let it dry - vacuum it up - then a neutral soap and water, making sure that you get the soap out. Just as a btw - if you get a small amount (as in a drop) on carpet/fabric and can get to it before it dries - saliva works (gross but effective and then after you've gotten the blood out just pop some bicarb on the spot until it's dry and vacuum) - tip from my sewing teacher back in the day!
