Do you have to use the smaller front boundary for the garage? Is the noisy living space going to work with all bedrooms coming off this space? If the garage went to the south and can it be on the boundary in Sydney, that would leave the middle for bedrooms and the northern aspect for living, as most Australian houses benefit from northern light. The front setbacks would make an ideal outdoor space which high fences or high shrubs if not allowed high fences, if on a busy road most councils allow you to have sound barriers, leaving the entry to the house to come in off the long boundary, which you can make more of a feature. You have a corner block which is always a bonus. The beds will then have a quite zone, the living can have that northern end and cars can be pushed to boundary. Have you seen a suface sheet product called Neolith, which has over 40 different finishes in their range. Being a large format sheet material, it can be made to size like Glass Splashbacks are made; thus eliminating grout lines. Most have a textured surface unlike the Gloss you get with Glass. This material would also work well on the front of your island to tie these vertical surfaces together. I like the new arrangement of the furniture, it adds to the cosiness of the space. What you really need are some soft furnishings - matching cushions instead of the real mixed bag you have, throw rugs and some nice decorative aspects on the side table. Consider playing with texture to add dimension. I see that you have an artwork already on one wall. I would suggest moving it to the wall on the window, and adding a much larger piece where it is currently hanging. The scale of the artwork makes the wall and room feel much emptier and off balance.
