Need advice for colour scheme in my living room
Comments (5)Paint your side board with Annie Sloan chalk paint. Probably cost you about $150-$200 to do yourself. I have done quite a bit of my older style furniture and it has really given me a new life for the furniture and saved me $$$ in not having to replace.. I did a mini story called 'painting a table' (in before and after in Houzz - if interested just put title in search box) showing my dining table painting job, check out that you like the finish first as it is waxed, I personally love it, it has a really soft look. It is not for a sleek house....See MoreAdvice needed on choosing a rug for my living room
Comments (13)Agree with above comments - large rug, darker colours to balance the beige. And I also think the art work is too small and too high. However if you are attached to these pieces they could be hung together on one wall, lower, maybe re-framed in similar frames to give them cohesion (black to match your new cushions?). This would create the effect of a larger art piece. (The centre of your art should be at average eye height - and in that room you are sitting so eye height is lower!)...See MoreStyling advice needed for a living room/entrance please

You could still have the sofa table behind the lounge to put keys etc. Space permitting, that could also allow for a separate zone for reading, perhaps putting books along the wall where the tv is now, with a comfortable chair and a lamp etc. There are a few ideas here: https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/no-entryway-create-the-illusion-of-one-stsetivw-vs~26568992...See MoreLiving room fireplace advice needed
Comments (28)Hi Katle, I would keep the fireplace as it is, exposed brick, if ties in with the rest of the room styling and the overall style you like and are after. I would than work with the idea f keeping it as a center piece, but utilising the firebox as a niche for a plant or sculpture. In addition, I would have a narrow piece of joinery custom design to work with the proportions of the fireplace, so on its entirety is like a new piece of furniture. The fireplace is still there but has a new function. Or could simple add a narrow shelf and painting over. Monia...See More- 7 years ago
