Make builder change drawers? Worth it or not? :/
Comments (38)I have to agree with the comment on symmetrical. I really thought that was something I should be pedantic about but then I had to take into consideration what storage I needed and as my kitchen is only small, there was no way I could even begin to think symmetrical. I chose to have finger pulls on my drawers which unlike handles does not draw attention to the unevenness, but even then I actually prefer the fact that each of my drawers are different, to me it is more interesting, and better still, helps OLD minds like mine remember where I put things....See MoreVinyl plank flooring - is it a good job?
Comments (15)Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. Kate, I think you'll find it will be great with the kids. A friend has kids and a couple of dogs running around on hers and it looks great - very sturdy. I do agree the step definitely needs redoing. I'm going to walk him around the house and point out anything I think doesn't look professional. And I do agree, mistakes can happen and as long as they are rectified I can accept that. The guy we're dealing with is part owner of the business and was a layer for 10 years before going into the sales side. He has offered to come and do the fix up himself so I'm happy with that. Re the colour, I originally thought that we'd end up with a timber shade of some sort, but the house is small and I like the white washed, light beige look of the Ashland. I'll be interested to see what you choose. Very exciting times ahead, lots of work but it will be lovely to have a new house! Best of luck, Trish...See MoreOrange brick curb appeal
Comments (10)Hi Scooby, there's a house near by that has the same timber as you which has been painted a mid grey, I will try to get a photo , it made a big difference. Our house also had "undercoat"pink front doors with coloured glass we replaced them with double plain doors for privacy and added two large architectural handles, one on both sides of the same door. Getting back to your roof, houses on both sides of us had their roofs done at different times by different people. One was a total botch up and had to be re done., the other was done correctly which included re doing all of the ridge capping etc and is a really good job. Then a very successful builder bought a house across from us, he gutted it and re did everything including rendering the walls white, and has had the existing tiled roof sprayed black, he now lives there. Looks amazing. We need celerygirl to do some photo shopping with your house cheers...See MoreRed brick veneer needs an update. Help with colours please?
Comments (10)I agree that charcoal would be nice - softer than black Just check that it has a greenish base, as that will work with Woodland grey Use a coppery colour for the front door and follow the theme by using rusted metal pots and mail box, as julie herbert suggested Pebblecrete for the pathways will complete the theme of natural materials, then give the garden some personality by contouring beds and mulching with pebbles and stones in the grey, brown and black colours of the building Perhaps a winding path to the front door Use Woodland grey for the new garage door If you really want to change the roof tiles, make them a greenish grey too With medium sized shrubs - magnolia, camellia, mock orange as well as soft grasses, the garden will finish the project nicely You don't have to do it all at once - it's nice to let the process evolve as you develop confidence Have fun and let us know what you decide...See Moreoklouise
