Comments (17)The "Birch Trees" design sounds very interesting, specially if you install it behind the range hood vent and all the way up to meet the ceiling. Any way we can see a bigger sample? Is it a printed detail on glass? or and embossed glass detail?? You already have a "Wood Look" on the floor, visually communicating wood by way of branches would only reinforce the design. I would however consider an oiled bronze, or dark iron color/look (match hardware hinges/drawer pulls) as "Trim" between the subway tile and the "Branches" tiles. Also if the Birch design is printed on glass you will want to carefully consider what type of backing/adhesive you install it with as it will show through the glass....See MoreKitchen dilemma
Comments (16)I would suggest putting a splash back in, firstly for ease of cleaning behind the stove top. Secondly for aesthetics. Looking at the joinery around the fridge it is very much a focal point, to create a sense of balance why not add a darker splash back. Something that may work would be to look at a dark mirrored finish, which would add bling and tie in the light fitting (check to see whether it is rated to accommodate heat from stove) or even adding stainless steel. Another thing that could work would be stainless steel tiles, or glass tiles that have a metallic finish, or even a glass splash back with a metallic finish. As geometrics are in, you could also look at using perhaps hexagonal tiles with a few different tones, one being a dark grey and create a feature. With the addition of the dark tile it will tie in the dark joinery. Lastly freshen the space up with some bright accessories, it's easy to create or recreate a space with on trend coloured accessories....See MoreBacksplash
Comments (39)okay!!! A lot of these commenters obviously thought what I did - that the cupboards are a deep browney grey!! I think the responses would have been very different if we knew the cupboards were white. If you re-read thru the responses you will see that. Perhaps try re-posting the dilemma with a better pic. One of those original tiles may actually look ok....See MoreKitchen update design dilemma
Comments (22)Hi Emma, Lots of great ideas, love the idea of a larger fridge to fill that large space, build in s/s microwave, shelf or shelves either side of range hood , timber but I think stainless steel would add a bit of glamour, fill with beautiful items, then stand back and decide if you want to update cupboard doors, if so plain would look great, some great stools ... gorgeous...See MoreRandy Trainor
