Redesigning our house including kitchen, two bathrooms & laundry. Ideas?
Comments (53)Thanks Jayme, I get what you mean, it's just not really practical for our house & will make the renovation a lot more difficult & expensive if we start moving walls like the to gain an extra couple of feet. It's possibly a load bearing wall too. But that area which is currently our kitchen where we are thinking of putting the fire place isn't the main living area, it's basically the centre of our living area which is a long room from one end of the house to the other, so we were thinking having the fire there will warm the house better being that it will have the kitchen & dining table one side of it & the lounge the other side. I think we could it a couple of cozy arm chairs & a small coffee table or we could just put a love seat up against the section of wall opposite the fire?...See MoreBlack water spill in bathroom and rumpus
Comments (4)Thank you, It was sewage from the sewage pipe (not water from the toilet). And yes, after 3 months and recurring cleaning after 3 professional attempts at cleaning by restoration specialists (and their potent chemicals), the insurer has finally agreed with me that the grout has been compromised and that the micro-organisms are trapped between tiles and waterproofing, so have agreed that the entire bathroom must be redone. Comments (14)Hi again QBENGA Oh yes. Very alike. We approach total strangers and drive slowly through new suburbs. I know what you mean about suspicious. We never did those things before we started designing our own home. I think your dingy bathroom is very easy to fix. I hope so! LED lights - so bright and cheap to run. Our designer has also told us about a kind of skylight. Probably the same thing oklouise is talking about. They don't actually bring light all the way from the roof through to the bathroom. Instead, there is a solar panel on the roof, connected to a lighting panel on the ceiling of the bathroom. When the sun hits the solar panel, it turns on a light in the bathroom. When the sun goes down, the light turns off. Instead of having a large tube that goes through the ceiling into the roof space (which interrupts your ceiling insulation), you only have to have a small cord pass through your roof space. I believe you can buy them from Bunnings....See MoreHelp with bathroom door please
Comments (27)our cavity sliders don't have a track on the floor although the wall needs to be reinforced if you want to mount a towel rail on a wall with a cavity slider inside.. in 35 years we had to replace the fittings on one door (out of five cavity sliders) but you need to make sure that the fittings are good quality but the door will probably be open most of the time and a simple floor mounted door stop installed close to the wall will stop the door hitting anything without being a trip hazzard...See MoreJulia Kay
