Need help with furniture layout and replacement in open plan room
Comments (15)Hi Ann, thank you for your comprehensive replies, I definitely prefer a neutral palette as I am attempting to make the view the main feature of the room. I love the style of the coffee tables you chose, they are exactly what I have been looking at and agree with your comments regarding the entertainment unit, I have been actively looking for a long lowline unit (220-240cm length and 45cm high)as I wish to minimise the obstruction of the view. You definitely have a knack for picking up on the look I was after!!!!. Thank you again for your assistance....See MoreNeed help with open plan living layout
Comments (6)the wooden floor makes it so much easier to consider moving plumbing and i'm wondering if moving the kitchen next to the laundry has been considered to enhance the indoor outdoor feel with a servery window and use the old kitchen meals area as a sitting tv area (with or without a means of closing off the area) and square up rumpus room and include the old entry to enlarge rumpus and create a new entry more centred along the verandah, having the new walls around the rumpus would allow for sound insulation and the two sets of doors between theh rumpus and living areas should improve separation without losing the separate study (guest room) and access to the other bedrooms and bath...accurate measurements would allow better consideration of this idea...See MoreNeed help restyling our open plan area
Comments (13)Hi there, Your couches are gorgeous. Just quickly, I’d swap the dining table and two single yellow arm chairs. Then I’d rotate the table 90 degrees if possible. I think if I were going to make any furniture purchases I would first replace all the dark furniture (dining table and bench seats) with white furniture to help bounce some light around. Dark furniture absorbs light like crazy. Thoughts on the kitchen reno would be to keep the bench top and splashback white and then accent with yellow and black. Timber usually softens and warms a space so maybe something like that for the cabinetry but timber isn’t the only finish to provide that feel. This leads into my next thought that white, black and deep yellow can appear quite harsh so maybe some some soft furnishings like some fluffy pillows and rug and a couple of throws might help bring some gentleness and cosy-ness into the space. All the best with it and love to see what you do with the space....See MoreHelp with colour scheme for kitchen/open plan living
Comments (6)You didn't mention the face-brick wall that is a real feature of this room. If you are keeping this brick wall as it is I would go with a plain white benchtop, as a marble will be lost with the face brickwork and feature timber. I think that you are on the right track with the grey floor tiles, however a bluestone grey is a cool grey, and you have a lot of warmth in the brickwork and timber. I would suggest a plain warm grey tile, with a hint of brown , perhaps similar to the mortar colour in your brickwork would complement the rest of the room quite nicely. This is a render of one of my current jobs with a similar scheme to your proposed white and timber which works quite nicely for the 1970's home that it is in.
