Would love some help with my living room - small beach house
Comments (7)I recently decorated our beach condo on a budget. Items to consider are bowls or clear glass vases with found shells displayed. Sisal rug and woven baskets make a coastal feel. The baskets are great for storage as well. I used white light and linen drapes found at ikea.Because of small size of room, i have glass tables to help maximze space. I am adding shutters found at a flea market as headboard for guest bedroom this year. I found many useful items from community sales. I frequent local beach decor shops some pricey to get ideas for arranging and adding items. I would put couch so can look out window to garden. Put it floating in the center of the room, Tv on wall. Two chairs sort of where they are now in photo. Small table and chairs located near door and kitchen. Looks like not much space there but look at ikea furniture as it is for small spaces. One ikea table is shown to be against wall and then pulls out to enlarge, it might work for you....See MoreHelp decorating the living room please!?
Comments (29)Definitely add a rug with some pattern and texture to break up the conglomerate of dark colours both with the tiled floor and chocolate modular lounge. The rug you choose will then dictate what scatter cushions to select for your lounge. You may want to consider asking your landlord if a art hanging track can be installed this way you could hang a lovely print or artwork behind sofa. With an art track it is usually powder coated white and installed just below cornice and looks like part of the cornice. You are then given by the installer acrylic hanging wires that slot into this track making it versatile to hang either a series of smaller prints or one large one and you can change as often as you like without any damage to the walls. Your artwork can also be the basis for selecting a rug and scatters. You will be amazed how by adding the rug, scatters and artwork will give instant warmth and personality to your room. You may also want to add a coffee table too. If it is a particularly beautifully patterned rug that is a real feature think of a glass coffee table so the rug can be seen. This may also keep heaviness out of the room that is happening with dark floor dark lounge. All the best! Comments (17)I think the problem is actually not so much the shape of the room but the fact that at the "pitch of the roof" part you have a large full length window and fireplace. Essentially, because of all this there is no wall to put your back against or place furniture against. My rectangular room has similar issues with a corner window facing the fireplace. We just put the kids toys there on the floor and low kid size stuff like a toy box. You can't put any large pieces there. So, I say, start by completely ignore the top triangle of the room. Its essentially dead or unusable space, but will add to the feelings of space and light in the room. Arrange your large furniture pieces in the bottom square portion, around a large square rug perhaps that would define the space. It might feel better that way. Then arrange your other bits around that. I think if you try to work the square it will be way easier to organise the room. Emphasising a square layout will feel more comfortable. Plants in that light bright corner was a good suggestion, they soften the angles. Hope that helps!...See MoreNeed help with decorating my living room
Comments (41)Hi there I think that adding in wooden decorations and real/fake plants can help bring a bit of life in to your space. And the tones of plants and wooden/nature looking items work really well with neutral colours. They can be both cheap and expensive depending on your taste so finding a bargain or something to suit your needs should be quite easy. If you want a more elegant look marble decorations even if small can be a great way to add a look of class. Candles are also a great way to add in some nice smells to invite people into your home. Keep in mind that sometimes less is more. Don't overdo it and have some fun! It's nice to shop for your home....See Morejulie herbert
