Thanks. Based on earthy tones In your Splashback and bench top the cabinetry colour appears quite overpowering. How about 1/2 strength Dulux ecru which works with the other tones in the space (incl tone of Splashback and bench top)? The Haymes / Whitewash palette (no.2 or 3 perhaps another good choice). I was liking Dulux 1/2 strength Grand Piano but without knowing floor then it may come off too grey against yellow. Consider getting sample pot for 1/2 ecru and painting in corner shown in pic. Have you thought about painting cupboards? Handles... Based on profile of cabinets then consider range from Lek supply or Castella (look at their online products). Nothing too modern. Vintage pewter handles would suit profile.

If you have not already made this kitchen I would like to help, it lacks adequate storage for good pantry space. If you need a lot of fridge space I am not sure that is the best method as it takes up a lot of space. The idea of adding the bench for the kids is a good concept but the high back means the kids can't see you all the time and they will end up on your side of the bench so they can see you. Incorporating space for the kids at the end of the island bench would be more functional for both you in the kitchen and the kids would be able to see you move around and feel a part of things. Also how will they use this space kids don't just sit still they will want a bench or something they can use to draw do homework etc. Colour contract of light and dark always looks good. P.S white bench tops are not hard to keep clean and they don't date, the nature of the stone itself is easy to clean.

Thanks bigreader for your advise. Whites are SO HARD. I have done a test patch with the Casper white half and fear it is too grey/green and too modern. The rest of the house is more warm white tones and the floor boards are warm. Confusing as the laminex bench top has grey tones and the splashback is navy? Leaning now more towards Snowy Mountains Half or Natural White - but what about trims??? Really trying to avoid the yellowish/old look that warm whites can throw as half done the bedrooms trims and doors in Antique White and they look old/tired already after 3 years. thanks for your time
