Love or loathe? Colourful kitchen cabinets
Comments (7)I think the colour used on these cabinets is great. This is a colour which is unlikely to unsettle anyone who sees it and is teamed with very neutral walls and furnishings. This room looks modern, with a little retro or Scandinavian twist.I believe that if you really love a particular colour, why not use it as a colour block on cabinets. Just keep the main elements in the room neutral and the accent colours to a minimum, like the orange accent used here....See MoreHelp with kitchen wall colour
Comments (15)Colour is a whole-of-house thing ie it begins at your letterbox and ends at the back fence! When I work with clients I assess their personal colour type and make recommendations from there. Often people will add just one colour eg red, as an accent and use it throughout the home...red pots at the front door, splashback, cushions, throw rug on the bed etc. Personally I prefer to use two colours to spice up a neutral scheme. They may be complementary eg red/green or analogous eg green and blue. The trick is alternating which is the more used colour in different rooms. Taubmans have a formula of 60/30/10 - the bright, intense accent colours should not make up more than 10% of your scheme. Never go 50/50 it always looks out of whack. Pick two colours that you both like, and find pictures on houzz as well as Pinterest for ideas....See MoreI need help choosing kitchen cabinets colour selection
Comments (17)Your kitchen is a good size but not huge so I would go with gloss white to match in with your lovely fridge. All white appliances. Light coloured bench top in the grey range. Backsplash, I'd go to tile expo, choose something you love and add some colour behind the stove, the rest of the splashbacks behind the sink etc in white subway tiles. Dark floors as you have chosen, all the walls in the house Dulux Whisper White. This is a great colour to go with everything, i use it all the time in my designs....See MoreKitchen cabinets – which colour?
Comments (9)Hi Irina, I hear you, warm grey can be lovely teamed with antique white, but your kitchen is not particularly spacious, has a lot of corners and no windows to throw a lot of light in. If I were working with you, I would try to persuade you to stay with the existing colour if the finish is still in good nick. Why? Because repainting panelled cabinetry in a high traffic area can be a fiddly, repetitve and expensive task if it is not absolutely necessary. Have you already purchased the benchtop stone for your kitchen yet? If so, what lead you to that choice? Did you compare sample pieces on site next to your existing fittings? If it already purchased and it doesnt go with the cabinets, get lots of little tester pots and try out a few shades with the new stone. Which Caesarstone white are you going for? Pure White or Snow? Pure White goes nicely with Taubman's Bassinette or Cotton Sheet (Bassinette being slightly brighter for a dark area), also with Dulux's Snowy Mountains Quarter or Casper White Quarter. While Snow lends itself to a warmer white, ie. Dulux's Antique White Quarter strength. You also have the sheen level and the light available to contend with in your kitchen. If you can get away what is already there, you could always change the door handles/ knobs over to stylish pewter or nickel which would offer some kind of contrast. Sorry if i just completely confused you!!...See Morebtgroat
