I love Spanish style homes which normally had red Terra Cotta tiles but you might get away with a flat mid grey colour if you're not into red.cheers

Spanish style says to me terracotta... usually with some lichen attached to it.

However red isn't overly popular at the moment whereas greys are.... and as roofing colour grey will be with us forever I'd dare say. Therefore it'll be quite ok to use a dark grey such as a charcoal. Depends on wall colour and landscape of course.

Tiles get hot and will hold the heat.... no matter what colour. Charcoal looks better than black as black can look too dark....

Jo Jo, to me what makes the photo of house you love really striking is the black painted eaves in contrast to the white render.

We have a neighbor who has just finished complete renovation, Roof tiles painted black along with trims and white walls looks amazing, I think it would really work with your house cheers (Mid North Coast NSW)

Hi Jo Jo, My camera is sick I will see if I can get my son to take one for you. but in the meantime, check out the Sentosa Resort where Trump and KIm had their meeting, beautiful classic style buildings, white with red tiled roofs and black gutter, stunning. I find that a lot of houses in Australia have their character removed so as to be on Trend, so silly cheers
