Love your space! Very tropical place Bali and inspires holidays to most of us. From first look it is a bit too much contrast with the grey/pink theme and the beautiful painting, lights etc are not quite enough. I would get three pots, very large, medium & small in aged mustardy yellow or aqua. Big glossy green plants in them with the smallest on the coffee table having something softer like maidenhair. The flowers on the side table would move to another spot, dining table, bedroom, bathroom or kitchen. Medium squat aqua pot here instead with strappy green leaves and a beautiful mirror above or behind it. The tall pot near the light to cast some shade from the hot sun. Add plumper cushions in assorted sizes and shapes and a pretty mint green tea set ready to serve.

I actually have a mix of drawers and cupboards and a few shelves in my kitchen – each was chosen according to how they would be used. So there are drawers for nearly everything (crockery, saucepans, baking equipment, mixing bowls, small appliances, salad bowls, chopping boards, cutlery, tea towels, aprons, oven mitts, appliance manuals etc etc) although I have a few shallow, push to open handleless cupboards for wine glasses, bottles of alcohol, vases etc that open into the dining room. I have a few open shelves in a recessed section of wall for serving platters, large and small, and small decorative items like jugs that give me pleasure to look at as well as two shelves for cook books. I also have shelves in my pantry as well as a cupboard with pull-out wire baskets. And a wonderful tall cupboard that has the brooms, dustpan, hand-held vacuum cleaner, fire extinguisher, step ladder all stored neatly and accessibly. So a real mix of drawers and cupboards – and it works really well as well as giving me pleasure!

Hello Kelly! The drawing of your soon to be kitchen is amazing, the exposed beams add a raw element and texture to the room whilst keeping the space feel open and inviting. You mentioned you wanted to place your dining table in the opposite direction with white chairs. I get the feeling that you might like a more eclectic or scandi look, timbers and whites! The above pendants you mentioned you loved are beautiful woven baskets, however as someone else mentioned these styles will cast shadows due to their cut outs. To counteract this try using some low wattage globes (if these pendants are only decorative) - look at using downlights for task lighting. Just me -- that's a No ! As it is shown there , its too much , too tacky . On an island , if it was maybe the 'front' it could be okay , or something like a built-in cutting board might look cool ( as it is presumably a manufactured stone , I have no idea how it would be practical-wise ? ) . That whole kitchen doesn't inspire me much -- its too mixed up IMO . Mostly black and white , but with stainless , some timber which is the wrong tone , again IMO -- not consistent .
