How to rectify a sagging timber floor so we can install floating floor

Our 1950s floor is sagging in what would have been the middle of the two adjoining rooms before multiple walls were removed to open up the space. We have had a carpenter tell us that we could just replace the middle pieces with structaflor while others have said that disturbing the tongue in groove floorboards surrounding the new floor will only create problems elsewhere. We are on a budget so replacing the joists in the whole room is not possible. We are laying floating floor on top which will only tolerate a 5mm difference in levels across the floor. Any suggestions how others have prepped the floor without laying totally new floor?
