Bronze mirror splashback will look warmer then plain silver mirror and will tone in with your lovely timber floor. Still gives the light reflection but more upmarket styling. You can add little copper or bronze features like wire frame fruit bowl, pendant lights or ombre bowls.

Hi Take your cue from the ajoining room. Is there a piece of art you admire or soft furnishings that could give you a clue. The trick is to take the colour from an art piece that is used LEAST to give cohesion without 'match-matchy' effect. Have fun.

I have a pinterest board with colours from the era however I have had a little difficulty finding tiles that would pull in one of those colours. Mustard and Teal are both colours from that period and I like them however a lot of the contemporary tiles are more yellow or blue vs mustard and teal. I am still looking though :). And I may have just found something a little striking this evening. Yes I have looked at the houzz photo galleries for inspiration however I am also a little limited to what can be purchased in Perth though currently on the net to see what is on offer in Sydney and Melbourne. The ceilings are plaster and they are original from the sixties. A lot of these ceilings are destroyed in renovations however I think they are just wonderful & seem to have been rather popular in Perth/WA. Can sometimes make a room look rather busy. Here is something a little different that I could try.

I work in tiles all day. Glass and mirrored splash backs are on the way out. Texture is what everyone is chasing now. Lots of interesting textures and tile shapes coming in particularly hand made looks in gloss and mat. Maybe 150 x 75 mat laid in a herringbone style (45 degree) or black gloss or matt laid brick or h/bone with contrasting grout. For a modern look 600 x 300 size tiles with grooves in mat finish. Bright colours with black and cream such as red are great if you like them but if you plan to sell the majority of people don't seem to like bright colours in tiles and your colours are classic at the moment.
