We recently did a splash back in our new kitchen using 41 x 41 mm square stainless still tiles from a company in Western Australia called ALLOY. They look amazing and everyone comments on them. They make tiles out of lots of different metals and in larger (and smaller) sizes.

It does all depend on your wall colour and other furnishings in the room, but I'd suggest to go on the lighter side Pauline, given that there is not a great deal of contrast in your kitchen, it is best to stay monochromatic. Something like Dulux Sandy Day or Beige Royal have a warmth and depth about them but not too dark. Please ensure you look at a glass sample of the colour, as this can vary greatly from the paint sample. Good luck and be sure to let us know how you got on

Hi Tanya. Very nice colour scheme you have going on there. I think you could easily use one tile in bathrooms and another in hallways, kitchen, etc. as the hues of both appear very similar. Is the bathroom tile also to be used in laundry? You could also have a colourful rug in your kitchen to warm it up if you think the tone of tiles are too cool. Keep us posted what you decide.

I have not read all of the above. It must be tempting to render and paint the fireplace but if it is decided to work with it then maybe you can find your colour palette in the bricks. The new grey carpet will give you a fresh neutral but grey can be very cold. you might need a bit of warmth in the others colors chosen for walls or soft furnishings. If you extend the tile base in front of the fireplace that will give another opportunity to introduce more impact with the tiles. There are always lots of gorgeous tile options. I am loving some of the Moroccan looking styles.
