I would recommend a standard seat height and if your husband is building the structure verify the thickness of your mattress. A higher bed looks maybe more luxurious but I think you are going to find it annoying to not touch the floor when you sit on it. The perfect height is the measurements from the floor to behind your knees or a bit higher. Hope it helps :)

With such a large house I think it would need some other darker colour along with white to help "ground" the look. Also, as mentioned above, pure white on an exterior looks very glarey - surfmist would be perfect. I would strongly suggest getting a colour consultant to help with such a large project - and get some mock-ups done with different colour ideas.

Assuming that pic is your house , and without knowing anything about the rest of the house , or you , I'd go old-school , and do that wall in a rich red / almost maroon wallpaper with a 5mm wide gold stripe say every 100mm . But then I don't like grey .

Do you have any furniture you are wanting to put in there ? Does any of it have any colour ? I like the light floor colour , the rest let's just say it is a good neutral base . I'd start with a new front door -- a darker varnished ( glossy ) wooden door , or possibly even a blue to reference your outside . Then add colour via furniture ( or at least cushions ) , rugs , and artwork . Again , maybe several different blues would tie in with the floor , but also the exterior . If there are only blue exterior highlights , you may want to go for warmer colour inside -- reds , yellows , oranges -- again , ties in with the floor . To this end , I can't understand why people go with 117 shades of grey and offwhite and wheat -- live a colourful life is my attitude , as long as it is themed haha !
