I have used them in my house for French doors and bifolds. It was seven years and five years ago with two different brands. A friend recently put them in her house and the technology seems to have improved since I had mine installed. I would recommend looking at where and how the screen closes. My first lot uses little bolts to keep one side closed across the space while the other clips onto that one magnetically. It is a pain bending down and stretching up to secure the bolts and there is a tiny gap at the top through which very small insects stream at night when the inside light is on. The next brand has the leading edge of the screens on a bracket which is also a brake. When you pull them across you twist the brake to stop wherever you want. This is a much better arrangement. My friend's new screens work similarly to this but a bit more efficiently. I'm pretty sure the brand is Phantom. It is probably wise to attach some stickers or thread some coloured wool through the screens because they can be very hard to see. Ours have bounced back no trouble at all when unsuspecting party guests have walked straight into them! The guests were also uninjured but of course were the butt of many jokes for the rest of the evening and subsequent parties!

@Wuff good to hear. We've settled on the stacker doors for those same reasons, for the project. Have bifolds at current house & I like them but at time of installation approx. 8 yrs ago we wanted them to fold inwards so we could screen them, oh no never heard of that, can't do that (they said). Of course now that's all possible, consequently rarely are they opened fully. At least we have a fixed/opening door on one side of the bifold set & also another single security screened door at the back of the house as a main entry point that we leave open all day.

Required by whatever building regulations and heritage guidelines apply in your location? Or required for authenticity of your design? Or required for practical purposes? Or are you simply asking to settle the debate you are having about the topic?

At least the Crimsafe doors won't take from any design features. What I will throw into the discussion is that you could put your screen door further out in the Entrance area (there seems to be half a metre or so in the photograph) and if they were double frames could latch back when required, rather than one large frame taking up all the space. Just ensure the area is covered, so visitors son't cop a deluge awaiting access. For added security, bolts could be attached to one side top and base and the other frame do most of the swinging.
