Hi Barry, I personally don't think the large blank space lends itself to a piece of art. It's up too high and contrary to your thoughts, it wouldn't be the feature you'd hope for it to be. Besides, the money you spend on a piece large enough, would be better spent on a smaller, higher quality piece mounted at the correct height (eye-level) that would compliment another part of your home. Getting back to the blank space, have you considered using a timber veneer for the wall cabinets? Something that would work with your bench, and then you could use the same veneer as wall panels to continue above the blank space over the cupboards. Perhaps you could even incorporate led strip lighting to give it a little more wow factor. Timber is great because it adds a layer of warmth to the polished concrete and dark cabinets. Hi Jeannie, Great artwork, some tribal items would look great, plush cushions, timber coffee table, lush plants in woven planters you could really have a beautiful room

We did a kitchen in a holiday house approx 13yrs ago, with a Wenge laminate runnng across the panel for the kitchen and bench top plus a Kahki colour for tall cabinets that housed the fridge and laundry. The floor tiles were like concrete and island bench had a white bench top, this was for use indoors and on the outside deck

Unfortunately the current carpet choices in colour are skewed very definately to blue-greys and charcoals. Gone are the long standing beiges and greiges, and other complementary colour choices. I walked into a carpet shop recently and was shocked the entire place was wall to wall grey. as if there is no other colour on the planet. Putting a blue cased colour against that paint is always going to show up it's warm base. This colour would have looked fabulous against the many sisal versions of carpet available in the 90's when the scandi look was all the rage. The grey trend truly is a horrible one and I hope it dies soon.
