what tile to use in bathroom with painted mexican sink
I am struggling to find the right tile to go with this sink in a very small bath. The sink will be in a small vanity with chunky wood countertop. The shower will have glass door, no frame, but has a white fiberglass base already laid. For shower, deciding between white 6x6 with a cobalt (the dark blue) accent tile niche and possible an accent line around the shower stall or white subway, either traditional or hand pressed. Maybe some talavera tile pieces too. Ideas? What about the floor? Simple white?

Comments (4)Not unthinkable at all. There is a splash back product called metaline by laminex that is a splash back surface, with benefits that glass doesn't have. Firstly, the cost factor is reduced as it can be installed as per simple instruction with adhesive and silicon sealant and can be post cut meaning if you later decide you want to install power points or cut outs for taps, lights etc, you can cut through it on site after it's installed, with rouge Ed glass for example that cannot happen. Secondly, it is a large scale product without pattern, so joins are minimized although some metallic colours are in the palette so they can be reflective and moody if that's what your interested in. Metallics are right on trend, so one of their neutral tones would line the entire bath feature wall and look sophisticated and not fussy at all. I've used them in bathrooms and they are cost-effective (from $40sqm un-laid) and look beautiful. Marble and now faux-marble is a classic look so not prone to dating. You may have noticed its recent popularity due to the faux-marble now available as the average homeowner may not have the budget for real marble. 4 years agoThanks for the input! do you think that subway or 6x6 tiles would be better in the shower? Im not sure why but i was thinking that the 6x6 might be more consistent with the style of the basin. Dark blue or light blue for the accent tile in niche?
Its a VERY small bathroom which was why I was leaning towards white floor. Trying to make it feel bigger. But maybe thats an error. This is the floor tile that I was considering. Too busy? I have to admit I like the dark blue tile of the last photo that Dreamer posted alot but was worried that a dark color would not work in a small space.

4 years agoI think that a dark floor in a small space will make the space appear smaller, is a misconception. For your bathroom, use a blue floor tile, as previously posted. Then white tiles for shower recess and walls. With your wood vanity and wonderful basin. A small space gives you the advantage of being able to use great colours, without being overwhelming. I think using 6x6 tiles and the white hexagon tile would be too busy and too much. You need uniformity, not lots of patterns. Let your basin be the pattern.
