Could you mix inverted bevel and bevel tile? Or too much?
I found this accent tile on houzz and loved it - it has a mix of bevel raised and inverted recessed and flat tile. i plan to use it on the back of a wide long extended niche. I have the sample and its gorgeous tile.
The rest of the shower will be monochromatic white subway.
the mixed texture scale was an inspiration.
i’m Wondering if could mix the texture of the subways too Or if it would be to overwhelming? i tried out patterns in excel to see if it would cause any unintended diagonal lines if alternating and it kind of does....i think the only way to avoid that is to mix 3 textures just like the scales, flat, inverted, and bevel/Raised.
Do you think it will be too much to use alternating rows of bevel and indent? Or even all 3 mixed? ...With the fan in the niche...

Comments (78)That is a hard one with those tiles. I would have to think if you did a white, it would kind of work with the colour of your tiles. At the end of the day, they do need to be replaces, but as you said, due to budgeting reasons, you cannot, I can pass on this photo of a nice bathroom with those tiles for you though for inspiration... : )...See MoreHelp! Comments (25)We did a heavy textured tile (each tile also has a different imprint design) in the same size but I went with white grout not to bring out the irregular grout lines too much. I feel it gives texture but not over the top! the pic u posted looks badly laid and they are different size tiles. There is great textured tile at Amber tile or colour tile (I'm in Sydney) otherwise I think like your husband suggests and go with the standard subway (but change grout to black for that industrial feel) otherwise how do you feel about a beveled subway? The calacatta engineered stone bench was from a wholesaler in melbourne at the time (Polygramm), then i used his recommended stone mason who cut everything on site which took a whole day. Its equivalent to the top ranged ceaser stones... saved a few thousand after getting many quotes! Glad i chose engineered stone as i nearly went timber.. i use it everyday and its copped dropped glass jars, wine/beer, you name it.. couple of light scratches but a product called gumption seems to 'cut and polish' everything out so far. I am carefull though to use wooden chopping boards though. Very easy to clean too, i would certainly chose these style of bench tops over anything else if i was to do it again. The cabinets are by flatpackkichens in melb, they offered 50mm increments in cabinet sizes so made customising for my compacted space easy. Pretty sure they just order the doors from Polytec, which are vinyl wrapped gloss classic white in a style called sofia or atlanta (think they are the same). Comments (6)I think a dark grey grout would look great, the wider the gap the more the tiles stand out, if it wouldn't cost too much and you had some spare tiles you could do a mock up on a piece of board , sometimes the only way to really gauge things is to actually see it...See Moretatts

Not even claiming to be an amateur
I am a clueless homeowner with no designer hahaI see what you mean about the corners
Regardless Of the file Was thinking to trim the niche with the same threshold material cut as the edges of the niche or a trim piece.
So taking your great advice
Rethinking and simplifying
What If I just went with tiny fan mosaic in back of niche

What are things to be wary of picking for them? I’ve seen pictures of showers In each type of tile.I would maybe try to do my niche and a border like the example in the picture with the mosaic
I dont have a designer and the ones in the tile store just head nod and say yes bc they want anyone to buy tile and aren’t really saying what will look bad or cause difficulty for the installer
So I appreciate the feedback
That’s why i come to this forum bc I am not at all informed or aware in tile selection or installation!
