Caesarstone and Wattyl white

Looking for some feedback on using a Wattyl white colour called “ calcium” on my cabinets . This is the one that Caesarstone recommend to go with the stone “ Empira white”..
to me it throws pink .. looking for any feedback on this colour please.

Hi Doone,

I've just checked the colours for you as I have real life samples of both in my office.

In comparison to other whites that have a more obvious pink undertone, I think that the 'calcium' colour is more of a ashy grey undertone and works really well with the 'empira white'.

Were you able to get any samples from wattyl and caesarstone? As that would be the best way to check to give you some peace of mind.

You may also want to try other colours from Wattyl such as:

- Moody White

- Flurry

- Freesia

If by chance you don't have access to samples, you can always head to bunnings to check out paint colour options there. You can also head into a caesarstone store to get a stone sample for free as well.

Hi Sarah , thanks for the info . I have samples of both the stone and calcium paint . I have now done test patches on my wall which look very different to the sample card .
Is the idea that the paint colour matches the white in the stone ?
By the way , this colour is for the 2 pac cabinets .. so hoping the colour tone doesn’t change at all fir this . Doone

I have a black laminate top in my rental, it shows every hair, dust, and mark imaginable even after just wiping it down. My friend chose a black essa stone top and regrets it to for this reason. I love black but have chosen Atlantic Sea Salt white with grey flecks and a bit of black in it by Caesarstone for my new build. I also have chosen Ravine Char Oak by Polytec for my cupboards which is a grey wood grain, I too have a black fridge but have no kids living at home anymore, so black shiny cupboards if you have small children might drive you mad! But a black with a wood grain finish wouldn't show marks like a shiny finish would. Good luck!

Hi Jodes, the Caesarstone Pure White is a beautiful and fresh detail of any kitchen. In our experience, sometimes the bench can stain and it's difficult to remove. Saying this, it's very durable and just has to be treated with care. Avoid using any strong chemicals when cleaning the surface. To keep it clean, use warm water and a mild soap to wipe the surface daily. It will tolerate heat to an extent but it's recommended to use a hot pad or trivet. Hi Myriam so it sounds like you have decided on white cabinets, I agree that there are many shades of white and its imperative that you consider the undertone, as some will throw yellow and others blue or pink. A warm white is 'Dulux natural white not stark. Another white worth considering is Dulux Whisper white. Light also has a huge impact on colour that being natural or artificial light, good idea to pick up some sample chips from the local hardware or paint store and hold them in the room where the kitchen will be to gain perspective on how the white will look. The 2 whites I have suggested are very safe whites that should look fantastic regardless. This kitchen I used whisper white cabinets and walls are painted natural white (bulkhead) main island bench has a marble Calcutta Oro slab although different to Nobel grey gives you an idea of a "marble affect with the colour of the cabinets). Like the other suggestions here I would go with snow to keep the whole kitchen consistent. You could then use lighting, flowers or fruit as a feature - all easily changed and updated. If you have your heart set on having the island as a stand alone feature, go with a Ceaesarstone that has a white base as close as possible to the snow with a grey veining in a similar colour to the oyster grey or a little darker but in the same tonal range. We renovated our kitchen last year and I thought I wanted the 20mm profile that is becoming more common. On seeing the 2 thicknesses together we went straight for the 40mm. To me it looks more expensive ( it is more $$$ but not by much) and more ‘solid’, especially on the waterfall edge and front of the island.

Hi Doone,

Yes, test patches will be different to the sample card as it is real paint and reacts to the environment in terms of light from sun and light bulbs differently.

The idea is that the paint colour matches the stone.

However, please keep in mind that the paint finish will be different again compared to the 2-pac. The 2-pac will be more of a satin finish (smooth like) and comparable to the sample rather than the brush out paint.

Hi, I bought my apartment 10 years ago (new) and can't find the exact white from Wattyl. I forgot the name but think it's something like White Sky or Winter Sky. Can you help me with this? Is it possible to get a sample to paint on the wall?

Hi Susan,

You can get samples from Bunnings or your local Wattyl Paint Centre. Give them a call before you go and they will be able to let you know if they have samples available.

It is possible to get a sample to paint on the wall but you'll most likely have to pay for it. So give them a call and they'll be able to advise the price as well.
