Has the time come to increase the ceiling joists to fit Insulation?

With existing ceiling joists ranging from 70mm to 90mm deep, installing insulation up to 250mm deep makes use of the attic and access around the attic a lot more difficult.
Space the joists at 600 with deep joists, which will beef up the structural integrity of the house such that it can reduce cracking and as well make storage and access around the roof easy with the insulation not protruding above the joists. Also the 200 + mm joists will reduce the thermal bridging of heat through the joists, significantly increasing the energy efficiency of your house.
And the costs are not significantly more!
