If you are having real blackbutt or spotted gum timber floors, which will be a great feature, then I wouldn't go with the imitation wood look plastic windows. The contrast between the real, natural timber floor will accent the fakeness of the imitation timber. You will get a cleaner look by the having the interior and exterior frames the same colour, and with the grey brick/monument cladding I would go with the white window frames inside and out. The back of the house you've nailed it -- all windows in the charcoal . Do the pergoda in a similar stain , and it's done . The front though -- you say the roof is Manor Red -- it looks like a fading brown to me ? Might be the photo , but I would go redder there -- it looks in that picture that it will need doing soon ? The one area I would concentrate on though is that gable ! I'd do all the upright boards and the surrounding boards in a really crisp white , and leave the infill in primrose or beige . Subtle but it will lift it . You then have the option of leaving the windows as they are , or going all black / charcoal / monument -- the latter would look more modern , but i don't think that would be the best look for the house -- I'd leave them as they are and embrace the period .

Since the tv is black and dominates the room, I would choose black frames. I would start with a large artwork on the corner near the red thing in your photo. Black will stand out on the walls. And a large tall plant in the other corner. With a small black framed artwork. Can you position a clock on the wall to the left of the television. Then it can be seen while you are on the sofas. Assuming the dining room is adjacent to the lounge room, it can also been seen from there. I would go for a black frame large interesting textured clock.

Congrats on the purchase, Tayla. Love those high ceilings. My first question is what style appeals to you? Are you enamoured with coastal/hamptons with its light and bright aesthetic, moody traditional, colourful mid century, a variation or something completely different? Does maximalism make you shudder or minimalism feel bleak? Would you quail at the idea of painting one millimetre of the timber or have you quietly considered painting the whole damn lot of it? No right or wrong answer (she says through gritted teeth at the thought of living in a maximalist home 😉). Alternatively, do you have an art piece, furniture item or inspiration item that you love and want to showcase? For me cohesiveness is what, no matter the style, “makes” a space. Whatever your style, ensure your colour undertones are complementary. Aim for balance. If, just as an example, you paint your doors frames white, consider painting your window frames and, maybe, architraves the same colour and introduce other white furniture and/or fittings such as throws, floor rugs, vases - some solid white, some included white, some just a few specks but again with the same cool or warm undertone. Before finalising, get sample pots, swatches and easy to return items and trial, trial, trial. Look at the colours in all kinds of lights and all times of day. Take your time, be prepared to have an unfinished look for a while, try to avoid the matchy, matchy look and don’t obsess over anything easily changeable. It’s a lovely room, I’m sure whatever you choose it’ll only enhance it.
