Bathtubs – freestanding or built-in?
Comments (44)Hi Joanna We love both! A common misconception we've found with freestanding baths and spas is that they're simply be too heavy to move around for cleaning purposes. To make cleaning manageable, our 100% Australian made baths and spas are manufactured using Gelcoat composite construction which is extremely strong yet not overly heavy (5mm thickness to ensure structural rigidity and increased thermal properties). So one of our baths is typically around the 40-50kg mark which allows most people to easily slide the bath out from the wall for easy cleaning access. Freestanding stone baths are a different story altogether! Regards, Brad AQVA Luxury Baths & Spas...See Morefreestanding bathtub against the wall or not?
Comments (17)Jenny Yun, you need to check back on your original plans/marketing brochure. If they show a separate shower to a bath that is what you thought you were buying. A builder can't change from having a shower and a bath to having a shower over a bath without contacting the buyers. Get your solicitors advice if the builder has made this change without going through the proper channels. A Certificate of Occupancy certifies that a home can be lived in. It is a requirement of most local government councils that an occupancy certificate be issued prior to the purchaser of a home taking occupation. If I were you I would be getting my solicitors to confirm about the Certificate of Occupancy before moving in and asking some questions about drainage and mould growth under the bath. Your solicitor should represent your interests, and knows what the law says, so they should be helping you. It is such a pity you have already settled - I hope it is not too late. If there are a lot of apartments with the same problem you may need to consider a class action if you can't get proper rectification from the builder. Comments (0)We have a small two bedroom double brick house in Preston, VIC and we have a major humidity issue especially in two built-in wardrobes. Now I must point out that this house was built around 1925 and where the wardrobes are located use to be a veranda that fronted the master bedroom. This was built in before we purchased the house and we replaced the old wardrobes with the builtins in 2008. There is no obvious sign of mould, however we are having to empty out two tubs of damp rid a month of extracted humidity. We have central heating through the rood space and vents, and feel that the combination of humidity created by the heating and the rapid cooling due to the location of the builtin wardrobes (front of house) near the external walls maybe the culprit; but we have also noticed that there doesn't seem to be any subfloor vent grill where it was bricked in. As you can see from the images, the window on the left side behind the tree, is the room in question, and I recently removed a whole bunch of plants in the hope that it would provide a dryer and well ventilated area around the window. Not yet sure if this will make any difference. I am in between employment and my wife works in retail, so money is tight and that's why we are reaching out to the Houzz community in the hopes that you can assist us in addressing this humidity issue with an affordable resolution....See MoreRose213 Gl
