if it's a rental i would invest in some tall modular bookshelves eg Ikea billy with combination of open shelves, solid or glass doors and shelves, space for printer and fax on top of matching filing cabinet and a chest of drawers for office supplies and set down counter spaces, wall shelves above the desks for books and reference materials, keep your original mismatched desks and buy some quality desk lamps and extension cords with circuit breakers and cable organisers to make sure you have the necessary power where it's needed.... if it's your own home i'd have the same furniture and invest in some extra power points, a dedicated phone line for fax and internet, and make sure you keep all receipts for your business tax and depreciation expenses...my suggested floor plan has the desks on opposite walls, bookshelves across the end wall and above the desks, twin filing cabinets, wall shelves, space for the aircon and a spare chair for visitors but the precise amount of storage depends on the products and services you supply and what equipment you need

Hi annalisa86 sorry for the slow reply, I didn't see you sent me a question on this directly. It depends on what your objective and budget is. If your home builder is willing to be flexible, an alternative to the basic white usually gives the project a lift. Sometimes that might still be a white melamine, but a nicer finish than the standard carcase white and in a thicker board like 18mm or even 25mm looks substantially higher quality than 16mm. If you want to make the most of the space I've given quite a few suggestions on how to lay wardrobes out in the following articles. Some clients prefer to have the wardrobe fit-out deleted from the build cost and then use a service such as mine or go directly to a wardrobe company to get something more tailored to your specific needs. This approach is likely to give better value for money, because building companies variation costs are sometimes dis-proportionately expensive. The draw back of this however, is that you probably will have to wait to get the wardrobes installed after your home has been handed over to you. If study is the primary use, place desk where optimal work arrangement. When I was doing a lot of zoom meetings, I needed to face the door so I could see and communicate with hand signals to the family as they popped by. So for that I would have my back to fireplace. My window faces east so morning sun was a killer with desk under window. What I wouldn’t like is to be tucked into corner, as you currently have, with no view either into house or out window from the desk. But that is me not your husband
