@Neryl, you cracked me up when I read your post ha-ha @lakshmi17, All jokes aside, if you want to go to the trouble of having beautiful pendant lights and your ceiling is so high, get a professional!!! Save up if you have to but it's the best way to go in this case, you might be surprised that it's not as expensive as the cost of the lights you intend to have fitted. I paid over $130 for each of the three lights I have bought to have installed over my dining table and I'm darn sure my electrician won't be charging me $400 to install them!!!

I share you concerns with the look of the light. I lived in Cairns for a while and many restaurants etc had high ceilings with lights and fans with a more traditional look. Maybe you could do some internet stalking of hotel websites etc. I'd start with Palm Cove. Good luck.

We are renovating the interior of our common property apartment building. There is not a great deal of natural light, so we are painting the walls Casper White. There are hundreds of suggestions that can be made on how to update, renovate and re-design a layout to make it functional for you and allow it to respond well to the built environment. Engaging an architect or building designer at this stage may not be something you're willing to do, as spending money for plans on a house you don't own would not be the ideal situation. The issue with this is that the design phase of a project takes a lot of time and consideration. My best advice would be to play around with the plans and create some sketches, whether online or on paper. If you are happy with the possibilities then buy the property. Any house can be transformed, but whether or not you are satisfied with the transformation is a personal choice only you can make.
