Check online suppliers like tesselaar and garden express who often sell bulk landscaping amounts of bulbs for really good prices. You can get hundreds of bulbs for well under $100. They often have a mix for for warmer areas if you are a little further north. Plant them out in the garden beds, and around the trees and wait for them to come up. Every year they will give you a great show. If you are well north, then opt for daylillies and agapanthus and clivias. They will give you variety and low maintenance colour year after year. The simplest way to give a nice look is to use a mass effect and repeat one or two plants or one colour over the entire front yard. For example choosing say purple and planting rows of lavender, salvia, alliums, and grey foliage plants like lambs ears and rosemary/ westringia....See Morefront of house improvement
Comments (3)Hello, I was wondering whether the end of the house was facing the street and does it get sun in that area.? Depending on the distance between the plants and the house, You could build an U shaped fence and create a seating area accessible from the balcony. You could grow something up the front of the fence. A Japanese trellis or similar would work well - It is a bit hard to tell but I think a dark charcoal stain could work well. Depending on your room layout - intake you could out a french door from the end room into this space. It should be left in grass or paved. If there is not enough useable space you could put a simple japanese trellis onto a frame and attach it to the wall and grow a climber....See MoreIdeas to improve the front and backyard?
Comments (4)Its tough isnt it? I have been in my house for years and still havent gotten the garden quite sorted! I think once you have cleared the plants it will be easier to see where to go/what to do. The current alfresco looks quite small and the posts could be a problem from the looks, but you have plenty of room to extend from there and even down the side where the driveway is. It will depend on your budget as to how much you do. Do you have a particular style in mind?...See More4 Simple Ways to Improve Your Home’s Atmosphere
Comments (0)The very basic foundation of having a healthy and livable home is ensuring the atmosphere at home evokes peace, joy, and happiness. This doesn’t need expensive furniture or an overhaul – you just need to make sure the atmosphere at home resembles the most natural and cleanest state you can give it. This just needs four natural elements: air, earth, water, and light. 1. Let some air in. Have a breathable home. You can do this by ensuring that everything in your home has its own space and each space has its purpose. Declutter often. Have no room for anything that doesn’t give purpose or bring you joy. 2. Bring some greens in. Indoor plants don’t only look pleasing to the eye and improve the overall aesthetics in your home, they also help purify the atmosphere. Plants take in the carbon dioxide we expel in our bodies and convert it into oxygen, the clean air we breathe! 3. Have the presence of water (or the idea of it). You might have read this in several home improvement articles: the presence of flowing water at home is a sign of luck and prosperity and also helps create a relaxing and peaceful ambiance – just like in most spas. 4. Use natural light. Of all the tips we have mentioned, the element of natural light is the most important. Don’t you notice how bright and spacious a room automatically looks when the sun hits the windows during the mornings? How calm and peaceful and promising mornings are when sunlight peeks through various locations at your home?...See More- 4 years ago
