Renovating Design Dilemma Exterior

Roof colour to match Paperbark render

Our house exterior is rendered and painted in Colorbond’s Paperbark. We have a tiled roof that is currently a faded grey colour (I think Woodland Grey but it hard to tell due to how faded it is). Guttering is Woodland Grey. Window trims are typical 80s dark brown.

The roof will be getting painted soon and I’m unsure which colour to choose. First thought was Monument but it might be too cool compared to the warm yellow/beige tone of Paperbark.

Now I am leaning towards Woodland Grey or Jasper tiled roof. Any ideas?

If you already have Woodland gutters then stick with that for the roof.

I'm more worried about the brown window trims haha -- being 80's I'm guessing aluminium frames ? Personally , I'd like to see photos to get a more visual idea , but Paperbark and Monument generally looks pleasant , but it probably needs a wow , and it won't work on some styles of house . The other slight problem with Monument may be the heat retention , and also do I understand you are painting the tiles -- are you sure it will take ?

The stone is from YDL Stone called Kalala Shan. I wanted caesarstone calacatta nuvo but that would have broken the bank! This one still has that marble look I wanted but it's actually a warm base more off white, goes well with wood and the trouble I am having is which grey to put it with in the bathrooms! I was thinking light grey with off white...where did you get your tile from?

Buy the sample pots now, and some large white poster paper pieces. Paint on those, leaving an inch or two of white all around the edge. Put them up in place and look in all lights.

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to respond. Your first photo siriuskey is the colour scheme I'd love to go with so good to hear that you'd think it would match with the blonde brick. I also like the shale grey roof idea butterflyroof and you're right that you don't see much of the roof at all (mainly when looking out the upstairs bedrooms). The olive green is definitely another possibility to look at oklouise and I've made a note to use 'mid-century' in search terms. Definitely plan to pressure clean bricks and a bit relieved to hear that leaving them is the better option. I'm still finding it hard to imagine a darker grey cladding like monument with the blonde brick debluc but it's certainly been suggested a few times so I'll keep searching for inspiration. Thanks again :) (attached is a photo of a house near us that I like and that has a brownish tinge to the cladding that would hopefully work with our bricks as it seems to work with their sandstone - maybe dune colourbond?)

I would be looking to counterbalance the intensity of the orange brick by introducing some olive greens into the trim and gutters. I don't know if your budget would extend to refinishing the roof tiles in a similar green. Get samples of Colorbond Pale Eucalyptus and Wilderness to see how they look against the brick. If neither work then consider Colorbond Woodland Grey. Of course some decent landscaping will help break up the mass of orange and soften the look. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

Haha yes, the house has lovely mission brown frames. The frames are aluminium and in bad condition (peeling paint, paint splatters from when the previous owners repainted the walls) so we will be changing the colour later on down the track.

Gutters are Woodland grey but are in need of replacing so we can change them to match the rest of the house. Ideally I’d love to repaint the exterior too but that isn’t on the cards.

In the photo , it looks like a bit of asphalt ( driveway presumably ? ) in the bottom right corner -- a grey , not as dark as monument . That would be the approx shade I would aim for on the tiles . The mission brown isn't too bad ( well , it is , but it doesn't stand out too badly haha ) but it will sort of blend in with the new tile colour . The present green tinge and brown windows not so much .

Just me , I'd do something with that door ( and any other main door ) -- maybe a really nice natural wooden door , maybe paint the existing one a bright summery red , yellow or apricot , maybe do the column in a slate . Spend $2k or less and it will turn it from average to thought out IMO . Of course , it looks like that door is open , and it may already have a touch of class , but to me , its a relatively cheap way of adding some style .

I agree the doors are rather plain, we plan to replace them later down the track with either bifolds or stacker doors. The driveway is stamped concrete that the previous owners painted Woodland Grey and we will repaint the pathway to match at some point. I like the idea of slate along the column, the entrance definitely needs something to add interest and character.
