Perhaps keep the color as natural as possible to compliment the greenery outside.

You can get basically 3 types of floating floors. I have different types of flooring explained on my website and it shows you the make up of each floor... What I would look for is....a floating timber floor with a minimum of 6mls of timber on it.. This way you can actually sand the floor just like a regular floor board. Make sure that you have someone to lay it that has experience...it is not just clicking it together... Also, make sure that whoever puts it down used and underlay...it is a thin sheet ...just as you would under carpet to stop any moisture and thirdly ... make sure that they run a glue line down each piece on the join, this will minimize movement. Carpet. Ugly, grey, literally-threadbare carpet. It is something we intend to get rid of, but carpet here isn't easy, in choice or available installers. But we'll go again with it, with something industrial-strength like we had at a previous house, a warm, dark brown most likely, to deal with the dogs and the dirt and the everything else that still manages to get inside past the mudroom.

Did you decide which timber to use. Carpet squares work well just make sure the over locked edge isn't too tight as it will cause the carpet to curl up, you can also use sisal the same way which you can take outside and hose down. With your table and chairs on timber it's all a bit timber and would be an idea to just keep the two carver chairs at the end of the table and introduce some other chairs to soften the setting, could also be better chairs for little ones to sit in.
