I'd do a project like this over 2 weekends. Purge the first weekend then you will know exactly what is left and work out what you need for storage. Sometimes when you buy storage first you find afterwards it isn't suitable for your needs in the end. Certainly the ideas already suggested are great. Don't forget to allow for future storage as well.

A good cabinetmaker should be able to make these. Each rack is simply a drawer without a bottom, some corner reinforcement blocking, and dowel fixed across. You won't be able to buy this off-the-shelf as all drawer widths are different. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls
