Living room furniture arrangement - what to do?
Comments (7)As a guide - the bigger the room - the bigger the furniture needs to be ! I have, for example , a pair of 8' ( four seater ) sofas in my lounge and the day I ordered them, three times they asked/checked I really had room for two of them, as they were the biggest sofas in the shop !! My lounge is about 6mx5m with 3m high vaulted ceiling - and the sofas actually look the right size, anything 'standard' would look too small in there !!!...See MoreWhat can I do with these dark walls? Paint white?????
Comments (24)Hi Maria, we love the wood but it is a little overwhelming in that space with the timber floor. A liming white is a great idea as mentioned by a few people here. This will let you have the best of both worlds, a lighter, brighter finish while still allowing the wood grain to show through. You could try Feast Watson Liming White Floor Finish (yes, it's not a floor but it has the size of a floor!) and build up the number of coats until you are happy with the amount of timber grain showing through. You'll probably need to give it a light sand first as it's most likely already got some type of coating on it. The other option would be to leave the walls as is and consider a large, light neutral coloured rug as pompom suggested on the timber floor and perhaps a good sized piece of art on the wall or white wall shelving instead of the dark side unit you have to reduce the amount of timber in the room....See Morewhat chairs should I use with a white tulip table?
Comments (11)Thank you both for your responses and suggestions. Yes, I was looking for upholstered because I want to warm up the table, also I do not want it to look like a kitchen table - but like a dining room table, and finally, because I wanted to have two different styles (for the table and the chairs). I like the burgundy upholstered chairs, as well as the Louis XVI ones (though these may be too traditional looking for me, and this particular color is a bit too light for the white table). I also liked the suggestion for the Tonet chair on the attachment, which is mid century and upholstered. I have found a couple of chairs that could work (Scandinavian, upholstered, beige or dark grey) but could not upload them for some reason. Keep the suggestions coming! many thanks!...See MoreMake your home a stand out with one of a kind pieces of furniture.
